Vacancy: Senior Editor, Pilot & Feasibility Studies

Pilot & Feasibility Studies is an open access journal that encompasses all aspects of the design, conduct and reporting of pilot and feasibility studies in biomedicine. The journal publishes research articles that are intended to directly influence future clinical trials or large scale observational studies, as well as protocols, commentaries and methodology articles. The journal also ensures that the results of all well-conducted, peer-reviewed, pilot and feasibility studies are published, regardless of outcome or significance of findings.
Established in 2015, the journal is owned and published by BioMed Central, part of Springer Nature. Pilot & Feasibility Studies covers high quality innovative work, focusing on research that has the potential of a great impact on biomedicine.
Pilot & Feasibility Studies is seeking to appoint two new Senior Editors.
The newly appointed Senior Editors will have full editorial responsibility for the content published in the Journal and for ensuring that the ethos, editorial standards, policies and scope of Pilot & Feasibility Studies are maintained. They will also be responsible for providing strategic guidance and overseeing the commissioning of non-research content.
The ideal candidates will be:
Researchers with broad experience across the fields of pilot & feasibility studies, biomedicine and/or protocols who are able to demonstrate their impact in the field with an extensive publication history.
Able to dedicate time on a regular basis to a thriving journal.
Willing and able to handle a good amount of submissions to the journal by assessing scope and assigning reviewers.
Previous experience on a board, with strong critical analysis and appraisal skills, and a good understanding of peer review and publication ethics.
Keen supporters of open access publishing.
Excellent strategic planners with the ability to develop a clear vision for the Pilot & Feasibility Studies.
Keen to innovate and continuously develop Pilot & Feasibility Studies.
Engaged with technology and willing to use the Journal’s online submission and peer review tools.
Pilot & Feasibility Studies is currently supported by Editorial Office and run by the publisher for administrative services. The position offers an honorarium, whilst the time commitment is flexible, we anticipate the post-holder would also have a full-time or part-time position elsewhere.
